Our school worked with First Story which is a charity that puts writers into schools to run weekly workshops with the pupils. Last year, Laura Dockrill, a published author and performance poet, visited Loxford every week to work with a group of 20 pupils.

They produced the anthology, which they named 'Imagine'. It is a collection of short stories and poems that they have written over the course of the year. The book was published and launched on July, 13th 2011. This year Laura has returned to work with a similar group of students on a second project. This work is supported by one of our excellent English teachers - Ms Steel.

One student Mohamed Mardadi, from the Imagine book, has been shortlisted for the finals of the LSE/First Story Relating Cultures competition. The winner is going to be announced at an event his is attending called 'Space for Thought Literary Festival'. He has also been asked to perform his poem at TheTabernacle (Notting Hill) on 29th February - again, it is an evening of performances and reading by poets and authors.

We are very proud of his achievements and to hear him perform his work is highly moving.
