Welcome to Year 13 at Loxford School
Year 13 Motto: FROM GREAT THINGS TO GREATER!Welcome to Year 13! This is a year where hopes and dreams can be turned into reality in the form of a university place, an apprenticeship or the grades which enable our students to make take a confident step in their chosen career. The steps necessary for this to happen start with small changes, attending all lessons, to be punctual, to do all homework set and extra! I have always believed we, the school, the student and the home are a triangle; we all need to work together for the achievement of the student which is our focus. Since the yr. 13 students started in September, their attitude has been purposeful with a real sense of what is to be done to achieve the grades the students want to achieve.
The Year 13 team is working hard with all students in completing their UCAS applications. The deadline of October 15th is approaching and we are very pleased with the quality of student applications. We have had students achieving a string of A’s and B’s at AS level with some students achieving 5 grade A’s!! These students have a real chance of students gaining a place at OXBRIDGE. Many of our students are preparing for tests and possible interviews with their chosen universities.
The work for November and January exams is already underway and again this can be a stressful time for your child. We are fully aware of the stress that students come under not only in Year 13 but more so in the final few months. We need to remember that together we form a team of people who work to encourage, support and ensure that your child continues to improve academically. This important team for any student consists of you, the student and the Year 13 Team.
We have high expectations regarding student self discipline, behaviour and attitude towards learning and achievements. In order for all students to have the best possible chance to gain positive results for their future careers, we are determined to do our best to offer them a positive learning environment where knowledge and enjoyment flourishes.
Later in this term I will be completing another round of Achievement Tracking and you will receive up to date information regarding your child’s progress. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday 24th November at the year 13 Parents evening. In the meantime if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's current academic progress please feel free to contact me, and I will do everything I can to assist.
We look forward to August 2012 when our Year 13’s will reap the benefits of their determination and hard work. I believe, with this cohort of students, we will achieve some fantastic results and go on to big things!!!
I wish my yr. 13 group all the best in all they do and to keep working hard!!!
You can do it!!!
