On Friday 2nd November Loxford Media Studies students went to the famous BFI Southbank for a study day designed to teach core industry and audience concepts on A Level set products. They studied a range of texts from The Jungle Book (2016), Straight Outta Compton (2015) to I, Daniel Blake (2016) and had lectures on the fundamental concepts of production, ownership & funding, plus distribution and marketing. When it came to audience Q&A, Loxford students led the way with intelligent commentary on challenging topics; impressing the guest speaker and their teachers!
Students also had the opportunity to explore audience and audience targeting, digital technology and issues of regulation. The afternoon session saw the very popular video games discussions with Minecraft, Assassins Creed III: Liberation and SIMS Freeplay all subjects of debate about key industry differences, particularly in terms of audience and game players.
The students gained a lot of information about the future exam texts and once again soaked up all the BFI Southbank had to offer for a budding creative media practitioner.
