Over the course of the 2018/2019 academic school year, KS3 students have taken part in a number of extra-curricular sporting activities in their tutor groups as part of the inter-form competition. Students and tutor groups are able to accumulate points for both participation and performance, which enables the PE department to work out the overall inter-form champions.
During a number of lunchtime and after school sessions, students have been able to represent their tutor groups in some of the following sports; football, basketball, netball, handball, netball and badminton. During the summer term students complete the inter-form competition through athletics in sports day and through the swimming competitions. Students had the opportunity to participate in the following track and field events 60m, 150m, 300m, boys/girls/mixed relay, shot put and discus during sports day. In the swimming students were able to race competitively in front crawl, back crawl, breast stroke and a front crawl relay.
At Loxford, we strongly believe that Physical Education and Sport provides students with an excellent opportunity to refine skills such as team work, leadership, communication, decision making and developing the mental determination to succeed. These attributes will help your child not only in their academic school life, but in their adult lives also. Sport and Physical Education is an important component of a healthy active lifestyle which we are keen to promote both in school and into adulthood. We encourage students to be actively involved in sport both inside and outside of school to fully develop their performance and understanding.
The Loxford PE department would like to say a big thank you and well done to all of those students who participated in inter-form events over the year and to teaching staff for their continued support.
