Jack Petchey Loxford Final

jack_petcheyOn Tuesday 7th March 2017, 280 Year 10 students filled the hall to watch and support the Loxford School Final of the “Jack Petchey Speak out Challenge”. This consisted of 7 finalists chosen following their day’s workshop provided by the Jack Petchey Foundation.  The 7 Finalists where: Mohamed Seif, Sabah Ahmad, Samya Zia, Anastasia Jankauskaite, Eden Mahele, Zainab Bedar and Rohan Thakker.

These 7 students showed immense courage and confidence to deliver heartfelt, comedic and hard hitting speeches to their peers. Each speech was met by rapturous applause as every performer rose to the occasion by putting on a great display of public speaking. The quality of speeches was excellent and the judges were left with a very difficult decision as they could only select two students to represent Loxford at the borough Finals.

In the end, Samya Zia and Sabah Ahmad were selected to go forward to the Finals. This will now be hosted by Loxford on Wednesday 22nd of March.

On the whole an excellent event and a huge well done to all the students who took part and gave it their all.

A big thank you also to the English Department for their support, all those involved and in particular Mrs. Zaman who made the event such a success.

We look forward to seeing you at the Finals to see who will be crowned Redbridge ‘Speak Out’ Champion 2017!
