LOXFORD IN THE MONTH OF JANUARY

Within the month of January our students took part in the following activities:-

  • Christmas Jumper Day and the Year 7 Bake Sale raised just over £1000 for “Walk in Love Project (Tanzania)”, “Yemen” and “Shelter (Ilford)”
  • Our Year 8 girls had their HPV vaccinations
  • We had a 93.5% attendance to our Year 13 Parents’ Evening
  • Year 13 mocks
  • All Year 9 students have had talks from the Police. They discussed CSE (Child Sexual Exploitation) and what to do if they are worried that they have experienced any form of grooming.  In addition the students were made aware of how to stay safe when out and about – this included public transport and when walking home from school, especially if they have stayed for an after school club etc.
  • Our Year 11 Parents’ Evening had a fantastic attendance of 99%
  • We had a speaker from TFL who came in and spoke to our Year 9s on STEM opportunities and Civil Engineering
  • Our Year 9 Parents’ Evening had a 98%

We visited the following places:-

  • Our Year 12 & 13 Media students visited the BFI Southbank for an exam study day
  • The Year 11 Photography students went on a trip to the Victoria & Albert Museum to see an exhibition in their Photography Rooms and to the National Portrait Gallery to see the ‘Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize’ and ‘Black is the new Black’ exhibitions
  • Some Year 12 Maths students attended a “Careers in Accountancy” Conference at The University of Law, Moorgate and found it very useful with lots of advice
  • Our Year 11 GCSE students attended an athletics assessment event at Ilford Athletics stadium to support their GCSE practical portfolio. They took part in various techniques and activity drills in both the 100m and 200m sprint.  This was filmed and recorded as evidence for their practical moderation
  • 13 Year 11 students visited Barking & Dagenham College to gain experience of appropriate Post-16 courses

Loxford took part in many sporting fixtures:-

  • Year 8 girls netball lost to away to Woodford 6-7
  • 12 of our Year 7 students took part in an indoor athletics competition at Mayfield school competing against other schools from Redbridge
  • Year 7 interform had a basketball competition and the results were:
    • Girls’ 3rd place 7C, 2nd place 7D, 1st place 7R
    • Boys’ 3rd place 7D, 2nd place 7R, 1st place 7C
  • Year 7 girls’ netball drew 0-0 with Seven Kings
  • Year 9 girls’ netball drew 5-5 against Mayfeld
