LOXFORD IN THE MONTH OF JULY

Within the month of July our students took part in the following activities:-

  • Our SEND department held their annual Coffee Morning. Guests from Redbridge Borough came to talk about the services and facilities available for children with SEN.  Also available were Outreach workers from New Rush Hall, Little Heath School and Playback Studios and services such as CAF and support for emotional wellbeing and mental health needs were discussed.
  • Year 6 students from our feeder school came in for taster sessions in preparation for Year 7 in September
  • Our Year 11 students came in from study leave for Year 12 taster sessions
  • Police Talks were given to our Year 7 & 8 students by our Safer Schools Officer
  • Our Year 9 and Year 10 students attended a presentation by “New Rules” on relationships, mental health and cyber bullying
  • We welcome our NQTs and Teach First from across the Trust who are joining in September
  • Parents’ of our September Year 7 students attended an Induction Evening where they listened to a talk presented by the Headteacher and met their children’s tutor and Achievement Team Leader
  • We held our annual Summer Exhibition for the brilliant work of our students in Art, Photography and Textiles
  • Achievement Assemblies were held for all years and prizes and certificates were given to students for various achievements during the year
  • Our Year 7, 8 & 9 held individual Sports Day

 

We visited the following places:-

  • Our Year 10 Prefects went on a trip to Manchester University to attend the SSAT Aspirations Show in order to promote and develop leadership qualities
  • PE students from across the various year groups visited Fairlop Outdoor Activity Centre
  • 12 students from Year 8 & 9 STEM Club attended a STEM event at Havering College and two students came 1st in three challenges
  • A group of 25 Year 12 Economics students went on a reward trip to London Zoo and had an enjoyable time
  • Our Year 11 Prom was held at The Kings Oak, Essex and the students really enjoyed themselves
  • Our Year 7s went on a day visit to Boulogne, France. They visited Becasuc, sweet factory, the old town of Boulogne, Nausicaa, the largest public aquarium in Europe and Cité Europe, the famous hypermarket
  • As part of their Taster Programme for the Sixth Form, a group of Year 11s attended a day trip to Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, to find out more about life at a top University
  • Our students went on their annual celebration trip to Thorpe Park and had a fantastic time
