LOXFORD IN THE MONTH OF JUNE

Within the month of June our students took part in the following activities:-

 

  • A Careers Club talk from Modern Muse introducing their “Youth Ambassador” programme to Year 8 & 9 girls to encourage leadership skills in STEM
  • We hosted 3 Year 6 Taster Days for the students who will be joining Loxford in Year 7
  • An Art Gifted & Talented Workshop was held after school
  • Our Year 7 Parents’ Evening had a fantastic attendance of 98%

 

We visited the following places:-

  • All of Year 12 attended a UCAS Higher Education Convention at the University of East London. The exhibition included stalls with representatives from almost all UK universities and a number of seminars for students to attend on how to apply for university and how to target Oxbridge and the Russell Group
  • A group of Year 7 students attended a Rugby Festival at Barking Rugby Club
  • Our Year 10 Media students visited The Guardian Newspaper
  • Our Year 12 Geography students took part in a 4 day coursework trip in Hampstead & Stratford
  • 6 Year 8 Technology students visited the Institute of Engineering visit attend the Festival for Aspiring Engineers to hear “Why space exploration is important”
  • 8 students represented the School at the Redbridge Book Awards and were able to meet participating authors
  • The Year 9 Monitors attended an Anti-Bullying Ambassadors training workshop in order to promote and develop their leadership qualities at Eltham College

 

Loxford took part in many sporting fixtures:-

  • Some students from Year 7,8, 9 & 10 attended District Athletics
  • KS3 Boys and Girls Swimming Gala was held
