On Tuesday 7th Feb Y11 Media Studies students went to the BFI Southbank for a whole day on their exam topic of TV Game Shows. To get there they had to cross the river Thames – with a fair few not sure what the river actually was!
Once at the venue the students were taken through all the main media concept areas of their exam and studied in-depth – via veteran media speaker Rob Miller – several TV game show case studies. This included answering questions in front of 300 other students from a variety of schools across the city; and where Loxford students more than held their own in offering comments, suggestions and readings of the texts presented.
They were then treated to a Q&A with one of the leading industry professionals within game shows and talked through some wonderful behind-the-scenes anecdotes as well as picking his brain about all things game show and pitching their own ideas for a show.
The students left the venue and headed back home with even more confidence about their exam topic and a healthy dose of fresh air courtesy of the Thames. All in all a great day out in the heart of the city, and another step closer to a successful exam!
