Welcome to the Sixth Form at Loxford

We offer you excellent teaching; state of the art facilities; the opportunity to grow as a person and prepare you for University, an apprenticeship or the world beyond school.
The two or three years you spend in the Sixth Form will give you the knowledge, skills and experience to move you closer to your dream.  Our aim is to give you the challenge and support to make this happen. A comprehensive induction programme is provided so that you quickly settle into our sixth form. This is important if you are new to Loxford but still vital if you are continuing from year 11. There are high expectations of you in year 12.

We pride ourselves on being a place of learning for all – if you want to join us then we will do our best to put together a combination of courses that will work for you.  All we ask in return is that you demonstrate commitment to your education and that you contribute to the community in and around Loxford.

We are committed to high quality education and offer a wide range of suitable spaces for you to study independently. These range from your own dedicated library, a 60 seat ICT suite, a quiet collaborative study area with Chromebooks to an outside learning space where you can learn when its warm enough! These extensive study facilities have now been supplemented with a ‘Starbucks’ style café exclusively aimed at sixth form students.  We aim to create a culture in which students want to succeed and high achievement and excellence are positively viewed.

There are plenty of opportunities to enrich your experience in Loxford; from Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to work experience supporting younger pupils in their learning.  Have you found a gap in what we offer?  Then work with us to make sure it’s filled!

image_1386066737_529db3317ea27[1]We regularly monitor the academic progress of our students. Parents and teachers work closely together to ensure that you will achieve your full potential. We regard our Sixth Formers as role models for younger members of the school and are keen for you to be involved in the wider aspects of school life. You may be chosen to be a sixth form prefect or sit on a student panel when we are recruiting new teachers. Sixth Form students contribute significantly to many voluntary activities, including music, sport and drama.

Life after Loxford
We provide a high level of guidance and support for you as they prepare for life after Loxford, whether this is embarking on a career or going on to higher education. Each year a large proportion of our year 13 students progress to the university of their choice. We are proud that students from our school have gone on to universities the length and breadth of the country to study courses from Medicine to Law and Business to Primary Education. You will benefit from our links with many universities and support organisations. Two examples are HEAPS and SMF who support students from more deprived backgrounds in gaining places at the top universities. We have a proven track record of helping students gain places on top university access schemes such as K+ at Kings College. Many students have taken part in industry based access schemes based in the City of London e.g. PWC Classroom based in Price Waterhouse Coopers. If university is not for you, then we will support you as you take the first steps in your career. A growing number of Loxford students have chosen to undertake degree standard training in Blue Chip companies such as Barclays. At Loxford we provide students with the skills, knowledge, understanding and flexibility to make informed decisions and cope confidently with the changes that will occur in the world around them during their adult life.

We are certain that Loxford Sixth Form provides an exciting environment in which you can flourish.
