On Monday 11th September, our year 11 sociology students ventured to the Houses of Parliament, in Westminster. Whilst there, students were given a tour of the different houses – including the Queen’s private dressing room! The tour guides, from Parliament’s education team, told our students about the history.
All students were privileged enough to have a question and answer session with Mike Gapes, our local MP. He seemed to enjoy the thoughtful questions asked by some of our students.
The trip helped students’ wider understanding of politics, which will prepare students for the topic “Power”. To help their learning, students attended a workshop on either “Voting and Elections” where they engaged with key concepts they need for their sociology GCSE.
