On Wednesday 21st of September, the whole of the Year 8 students had the privilege to listen to live music performed by the Redbridge Music String Quintet.
During an hour, players mesmerized students with, as entrance number, an arrangement of Pirates of the Caribbean for strings before moving on to Waltz, Tango, and Classical pieces of music. To close the concert, the quintet performed Harry Potter’s soundtrack, which blew away aspiring musicians.
Students had the chance to ask all sorts of questions, which were happily answered by the players and some of our students even got the chance to conduct the quintet. Our year 8s discovered live play by instruments they had never really heard before in concert as well as different instrumental techniques used by string players.
The afternoon has been inspiring and an enjoyment for both students and staff and the Music Department hopes to organise a similar event during the year.
