Initial Teacher Training

Initial Teacher Training

The Loxford School Trust Teaching School Alliance offers Initial Teacher Training of the highest quality at both primary and secondary phases.

Each of our Trust Schools offers training and support through a range of routes into teaching, including School Direct, Teach First and NQT programmes.

The Loxford School Trust has already supported many hundreds of teachers to join the profession and comprehensively develop their pedagogy.  Each year we train in excess of fifty teachers across our partnership of schools, offering a full and thorough training programme in conjunction with our higher educational partners including Canterbury Christ Church University, Goldsmith’s University, University College London – Institute of Education, Greenwich, King’s College London and University of Westminster.

Loxford School has been awarded the OFSTED judgement of outstanding in every category and we are in a unique position to draw upon our wide pool of talented staff across the Loxford Trust schools to ensure that all new teachers are developed to maintain and develop the outstanding practice for which Loxford School is renowned.  Weekly training, run by our own teams of specialist staff, is delivered to new and developing teachers within our schools covering all aspects of pedagogy.  Our training includes mentoring and support through the role of school and subject mentors, as well as the assignment of personal training buddies who have recently gone through the Initial Teacher Training Process themselves and provide informal coaching and support.

We constantly review and update our training programmes to ensure that our support and training addresses the needs of new entrants into the profession on a personal level, as well as covering all statutory requirements.  We train teachers to be happy, outstanding practitioners who are supported at every stage of their development.
