Year 9 London Symphony Trip

Back
June 21st 2022

On Friday 17th June, eleven Year 9 students were chosen to go see the London Symphony play at St Luke’s Church in Central London.

The concert featured four pieces by a range of composers (Miguel del Aguilar, Francis Poulenc, JS Bach and Berlioz) and the students were able to experience hearing world class musicians from the London Symphony perform them. The students were impeccably behaved and thoroughly enjoyed each piece. In particular, a percussionist played a Bach Suite on the marimba and fascinated the crowd by playing four parts at once! The concert ended too quickly and the Year 9’s were lucky enough to meet the trombonist in the lobby afterwards.

The students were able to shake his hand and told him that he did “a great job!”. Overall, despite 34-degree heat, the day was one that we will all remember quite fondly. Thank you Year 9's!
