International Links

Loxford School ran the Global Learning Programme Expert Centre (GLPEC).The programme, funded by the DfID,  provided training and support to teachers in Primary, Secondary and Special schools to deliver effective teaching and learning about development and global issues at Key Stages 2 and 3. GLP schools across the country are already experiencing the positive impact that global learning can have on pupils’ engagement, knowledge, skills and values. Loxford School has co-ordinated work with over 40 local schools and participated in the fifth phase of the GLP programme following a successful earlier round.

GLOBAL AMBASSADORS

The Global Ambassadors meet on a weekly basis where they engage on a range of global issues, such as petitioning to MPs on climate change, raising awareness on human trafficking and poverty and fund-raising. The Global Ambassadors also play a useful role with hosting international visitors. The Global Ambassadors are currently working on a programme to raise awareness of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. INTERNATION SCHOOL AWARD

The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that engage in outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.

Loxford School’s international work celebrates our global work with our partner link schools in India, Spain and Ghana. The work also embraced global learning through ten curriculum subjects, therefore raising the profile of learning at a global level. Loxford School has been featured in its partnership with the Salwan Public School, India, for excellent practice and integration into the curriculum.

Fair Trade

The Global Ambassadors played a key part in researching what pupils knew about Fairtrade. Further work was also undertaken to see the extent to how catering services included Fairtrade food products.  PSCHE delivered Fairtrade learning for all year groups, whilst the Primary phase hosted a PTA coffee morning, which raised money for the Fairtrade Foundation.

GREEN CULTURE

Loxford School is working with Green Culture World to promote a greater understanding of how to protect the environment and promote culture through education.  We recently hosted a network of schools as part of this project. The NGO, Krug, is dedicated to promoting the Arts and Culture of the Western Balkans through local and international collaboration. Through pioneering cultural events, NGO Krug fosters intercultural awareness and provides a platform for cross-border and cross-cultural collaboration. The NGO, KRUG, aims to bring renowned international experts to former Yugoslav countries, now referred to as the Western Balkans, and help make them more sustainable and eco-friendly, setting an example to the wider global community. Further information can be seen on the following web link: http://greenculture.world

Here is a video that was produced by KRUG NGO and Green Culture which summarises their visit to Loxford School earlier this term, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-yGxrxuwzI&feature=youtu.b
