Welcome to Year 7
We are very excited to begin this wonderful journey with our new year 7’s with the support of their parents/carers. Year 7 is not only the beginning of an exciting journey, but also a beginning of a great future for our young people. This is the year where students will be supported to develop all the necessary life skills, such as leadership, empathy, ambition, determination, enthusiasm and resilience; which will help them grow and become great ambassadors in their communities.
In Year 7 you will find all staff working hard to provide a safe and happy environment in which every student can learn to develop academic, social and personal goals. A good start in Year 7 will lay down the foundations for successful learning. Every child matters at Loxford and we are proud of our inclusive approach for all children on the learning spectrum. Pupils will be supported in their learning by a form tutor, who has an overview of their learning and who will be able to offer advice and guidance.
The Achievement Team Leader, Mrs Geke is responsible for the learning and achievement for the year group. Ms Kaur is the Year 7 Care Team and is responsible for student welfare and is available to help students and parents with any concerns they have. We are supported in our work by staff from Additional Education Needs (AEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL).
We have clear guidelines in place to help the development and raising attainment of our students. With your help and assistance, we can continue this positive trend by ensuring that homework is completed regularly, school diaries are signed and checked by parents and tutors every week and that students take full advantage of all the after school activities we have available at Loxford School.
Together we are a TEAM which consists of you, your child, the Year 7 Achievement Team and all of the curriculum and support staff within the school. We need to work together to ensure your child continues to improve academically and make progress in all aspects of their school life.
We are keen to discuss any concerns or answer any queries you may have about your child’s progress, so please feel free to contact your child’s form tutor, Mrs Kaur or Mrs Geke and we will do our best to assist you.
Mrs Geke will be holding weekly parental surgeries, to give you the opportunity to meet with her in person and to discuss any academic concerns that you may have.
The Year 7 team look forward to working with you.
