15 Y10 students visited the annual Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace last week. Students got a glimpse into the work of leading textile artists from all over the world. They used the opportunity to gain first-hand research into a number of techniques as part of their project on ‘Natural Forms’ this term. Stalls featured techniques such as crochet, embroidery, patchwork and quilting, felt-making, shibori dyeing, jewellery-making, felt-making and embossing.
Students found the event insightful and walked away with lots of inspiration for their coursework, which makes up 60% of their overall GCSE grade.
