On Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 19th June, the PE department took a number of students’ to compete at the District Athletics Competitions at Ashton Playing Fields. All students’ behaviour and effort displayed across both days was exemplary; they were a credit to Loxford School.
Our students’ competed against a number of other schools from the borough and whilst we would like to congratulate all those who took part, a special mention must go to Rochelle Agard-Augustin who placed 3rd in the Yr 9 Girls 300m race; Jenae Diggs who placed well in the Yr 9 girls long jump; Dev Jassal who placed well in Yr 9 Boys Discus; Chamodh Fernando who came 3rd in the Yr 10 Discus; and Sakib Islam and Eva Seidi who got through to the Yr 10 & Yr 8 200m Finals and came 5th.
At Loxford, we strongly believe that Physical Education and Sport provides students with an excellent opportunity to refine skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication, decision making and developing the mental determination to succeed. These attributes will help your child not only in their academic school life but in their adult lives also. Sport and Physical Education is an important component of a healthy active lifestyle and developing mental, social and physical well-being. We encourage students and members of the local community, to be actively involved in sport both inside and outside of school to fully develop their performance and understanding. The Loxford PE department would like to say a big thank you to all those students’ and staff involved in organising these events.
