2nd May, 2024

On Thursday 2nd May, twenty-eight students from Year 8 and 9 were chosen to go to see the Boy Blue Dance Company at The Barbican Theatre in London to watch their performance of "cycles".  The performance featured nine professional street dancers that showcased a range of street dance styles with an artistic message and powerful music, choreographed by Kenrick Sandy MBE and Michael J'Sante. The students were able to experience watching world class dancers and be inspired by their hard work, creativity and impressive dance skills. The students were impeccably behaved and thoroughly enjoyed the performance. As they were so well behaved, we were lucky enough to be invited to a question-and-answer session after the performance, so the students could ask one of the choreographers (who is a choreographer we study on the GCSE dance specification), questions about the performance they had! The students enjoyed this too and he was very inspiring! The students were able to talk to Kenrick Sandy about his artwork and students said "it was something they'll never forget." Overall, the day was one that we will all remember quite fondly. Thank you Year 8's and 9's!
