Heat-Health Protective Measures

June 22nd 2026

To reduce the health risks of hot weather:

Stay Cool

  • Avoid direct sun between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm (the hottest part of the day).

Keep Your Home Cool

  • Close curtains/blinds on sun-facing windows.
  • Open windows early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.

Stay Hydrated

  • Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
  • Limit alcohol intake, as it can increase dehydration.

Stay Safe Outdoors

  • Walk in shaded areas where possible.
  • Use sunscreen regularly.
  • Wear a wide-brimmed hat and light clothing.

Look Out for Others

  • Check on vulnerable people (older adults, children, those with health conditions, or living alone).

Transport Safety

  • Never leave anyone (especially children or pets) in a parked or closed vehicle.
