BackYear 13 Visit to the Freud Museum
Our Year 13 students recently visited the Freud Museum in London as part of their A-Level studies, deepening their understanding of Sigmund Freud’s influential ideas about religion.
The visit offered students a unique opportunity to explore Freud’s former home, preserved much as it was when he lived and worked there. Surrounded by his famous psychoanalytic couch, extensive library, and remarkable collection of antiquities, students were able to see firsthand the environment that shaped his thinking.
During the trip, students examined Freud’s view of religion as a psychological construct and a form of collective neurosis, engaging with key texts and theories that have played a significant role in the development of modern psychology. The visit was an enriching and academically rigorous experience, supporting both their examination studies and their wider critical understanding of the intersection between psychology and religion.
