Year 7 London Discovery Trip – Bank of England, Leadenhall Market & the London Eye
BackOn Wednesday 29th April, 21 Year 7 students embarked on a full-day trip across London, exploring some of the city’s most iconic landmarks as part of their wider curriculum enrichment programme.
The day began at Barking Station, where students boarded the District line into the heart of the City of London. Their first stop was the Bank of England Museum on Bartholomew Lane, where students had the rare opportunity to hold a real gold bar and explore how Britain’s economy has changed over centuries - from the Bank’s founding in 1694 right through to the present day.
From there, the group made their way to the magnificent Leadenhall Market, where students were thrilled to discover they were walking in the footsteps of some of cinema’s most beloved characters - the market has served as a iconic backdrop for films and shows including Harry Potter and Doctor Who.
After a sunny lunch along the South Bank beneath the London Eye, the group rounded off the day with a walk to Westminster, taking in some of the most recognisable sights in the country before heading home.
The trip provided students with a rich, real-world connection to their Geography and Humanities learning, developing their confidence, independence, and cultural awareness as young Londoners.
